Ellen Callaway:
Food Photographer

Ellen Callaway grew up in a family discussing the world of the arts around the dinner table. That influence inspired her to pursue a career of photographing food and everything that has to do with food – a career that has been evolving and growing since 1997, including not just food but product photography and other commercial photography pursuits.

Ellen’s passion is to capture the stages of the food chain – crops ready to be harvested in the fields, prepared food plated and photographed in studio or as served at a restaurant. Those photographic images are, in turn, used in editorials, food packaging, advertising, cookbooks and other commercial displays.

Whenever her work allows, Ellen escapes her Cambridge studio to travel to all corners of the world. Her primary interest when abroad centers on learning about the local cultures and their cuisine. While on the home front, she spends her free time at her family’s inn in Ogunquit, Maine Parsons Post House Inn Perhaps this summer will call for another bike ride to the inn from Boston!

Ellen has been invited to exhibit her food and travel photography as part of a Mother-Daughter exhibition in upstate New York at Orazio Salati Studio & Gallery in April/May 2011. Ellen’s mother, Genevieve Cerwonka, creates textural pastel paintings depicting the Atlantic shoreline, especially along the Maine coast.
